"hoy probablemente extinta" (p. 415). "De los 404 canichanas registrados en el censo 2001, 4 personas afirmaban ser hablantes de la lengua canichana. Sin embargo, durante mi intensa busqueda de los últimos hablantes de la lengua entre 1999-2001 ... sólo encontré a tres ancianos, entre 75-80 años, que todavía se acordaban de algunas palabras y una o dos frases sueltas" (p. 418) [Today probably extinct" (p. 415).
