The Kinikinau language is in the last stage of obsolescence. There is no more daily dialogue in Kinikinau. Dialogue was muted in July 2014, with the death of Mr. Michael Roberto ... husband of Doña Zeferina Moreira (very probably) the last speaker of Kinikinau ... The couple's older children are passive speakers (only understand). The Kinikinau language is in the last stage of obsolescence. It is not spoken by children and young people; it has no social or ritual function. There are a few semi-speakers. They belong to a family that is scattered because they are landless Indians.
